What is your teaching discipline?

Industrial Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics

What brought you to the area?

Visiting friends on vacation.

What is your teaching philosophy?

To take the engineering technology theoretical concepts and have students apply them in lab to discover the practical applications of being a technician. Students are capable of solving problems in the lecture portion of courses, but students in college should be given the chance to experience real world scenarios and problems that will hopefully have them beg for more knowledge, and tools to grow their skill and challenge them.

What do you hope your students take away from your courses?

To believe in themselves. To appreciate the fact that they can take the core knowledge, skills, and the engineering technology principles learned, and feel confident in solving real world problems in their future careers.

What do you like to do on the weekends?

Get togethers with friends and family, travel, rode trips, golf ..... and sometimes just veg-out.

What is the most memorable place you have traveled to?

Europe and Japan.

What is in your refrigerator right now?

Leftovers, fruits, veggies, wine, beer ...

What makes you laugh out loud?

A lot of things. Family, friends .... a book, a good movie.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Love and respect from my family and also work life. I have been very fortunate in transitioning through two very technical and challenging careers, but I have to say becoming a college professor has been the proudest and most rewarding.

What is your greatest extravagance?

Traveling and spoiling friends and family.

Who is your hero?

Hmmm. that's tough ... I have a few. I would say though, if I had to have ONE - it would be Winston Churchill. His confidence and strong beliefs in his country allowed him and his country to perservere. After his failures, he continuously picked himself up and reinvented himself. As Prime Minister during WWII, he aided the British by continuously giving them hope through the Blitz. Their strong temperament held back the Nazis single-handedly for almost two years before the US came into the war. Without their spirit the Nazis could have controlled Europe. His beliefs coupled with continuously learning and taking chances are what I admire.
