What is your teaching discipline?

Business

What brought you to the area?

A job.

What is your teaching philosophy?

I am tasked with the job of assisting students to grasp and understand the concepts of business. In doing so, I bridge a connection between everyday life and the discipline. My ultimate goal is to teach them the facts and principles as they relate to business so that it resonates. As a professor of business, fostering critical thinking skills is a very important aspect of the discipline and ultimately a goal I strive to achieve. In order to achieve this goal, I introduce each topic through the use of real world examples that students can easily relate to. Furthermore, I have incorporated a variety of learning tools in the classroom, and active learning so that students are not confined to one method of teaching, such as lecturing.

What do you hope your students take away from your courses?

I strongly encourage student feedback so that the students understand their integral part of the learning process and so that they are more inclined to participate and voice their opinions. I hope that the student will achieve the anticipated learning outcomes and build on their skills to make them better prepared for future opportunities in business.
