Campus police worked with the Hampton police department and the Hampton fire department to make sure everyone was safe following a bomb threat July 12.

Virginia Peninsula Community College was one of multiple institutions in the Commonwealth subject to a bomb threat July 12. Threats also were received at Tidewater Community College (Chesapeake campus), Norfolk State University, and Regent University.

The College's police received a call at 12:18 p.m. The Hampton police and the Hampton fire department were notified, and a canine unit swept Hastings Hall, which is on the College's Hampton campus. No one was injured or in danger, said campus police chief Kelvin Maxwell. Everyone was cleared to return to the building at 2:18 p.m
