Thomas Nelson's 93-80 victory over Carolina Christian on Feb. 5 did more than keep the Gators undefeated in the New South Athletic Conference. It clinched the top seed in the post-season tournament, giving the Gators (14-1 overall, 3-0 conference) a bye into the championship game, which is set for Feb. 26 at 6 p.m. at Bethel High School.

Most recently, the Gators defeated Southside Virginia Community College 75-46 in Lawrenceville. The Feb. 12 game saw Javion Majette receiving Player of the Game recognition with 19 points, three assists and one steal. Behind Majette was Jalil Langston with 10 points, five rebounds and four steals. Juwuan Brown was the Gators' top rebounder with 15 and he contributed nine points while William Steger added six points, four rebounds and six assists.

In the earlier win over Carolina Christian, Amar Hawkins led the way with 18 points and four rebounds for the Gators. Quishaun Brevard added 17 points and four assists, Brown had eight points and 10 rebounds, and Aubrey Merritt contributed eight assists, seven rebounds and two steals.

The Gators added a 100-92 non-conference win over TPLS Christian Academy, a postgraduate school in the Richmond area, Feb 6. Brevard had 19 points for the Gators, and Majette added 16. Kaiden Mines, on the strength of a 5-of-7 effort on 3-pointers, had 15 points. Brown chipped in with 13 points and 10 boards.

Two more games are ahead for Thomas Nelson before the conference championship. The team meets Bryant & Stratton Feb. 19 at 5 p.m in Atlantic Shores, and will face Carolina Christian College at 3 p.m. the following day at home (Bethel High School).
