Criminal Justice Associate of Applied Science

Our Associate of Applied Science in Criminal Justice allows students interested in a career in corrections, forensics, and security management to get the training and specialized coursework to qualify for those jobs. By enrolling with Virginia Peninsula’s Criminal Justice program, students will become part of a cohort of students who will receive a broad foundation of law enforcement practices, criminal investigation techniques, and ethical decision-making, preparing them for careers in public safety, corrections, and the judicial system.

While our Criminal Justice degree is designed to prepare the student to enter fields like homeland security, juvenile crime, and law enforcement administration, it was also created to prepare the graduate for professional advancement when they enter the chosen field.

G3 ELIGIBLE PROGRAM

  This program is eligible for the G3 Tution Assistance programs.

Graduates of our program will be ready for entry-level employment in local, state, and federal justice agencies, as well as private security and loss prevention organizations. The Criminal Justice Associate of Applied Science degree also provides a strong foundation for students who wish to continue their education in a bachelor’s program in criminal justice or related fields.

Articulation Agreements: Students who are interested in completing a four-year Criminal Justice program should meet with a member of the Academic Advising team to determine and discuss requirements to transfer to the university level. Virginia Peninsula Community College has signed agreements with ECPI University and Old Dominion University, which allow for transfer.
