The Dr. Mary T. Christian Theatre is a state-of-the-art performing arts space available for community organizations, businesses and groups to rent for performances, retreats, conferences and more.
The theater features 490 seats, including accessibility spaces on the main floor and in the balcony. The revamped orchestra pit can accommodate a 30 member chamber orchestra, and there are updated projection, sound and lighting systems. A new counterweight fly system makes scenery and prop changes easier and faster.
Backstage, there is ample room for costume changes, prop storage and more. There are dressing rooms, staging areas, a rehearsal space and showers. There is also a central Green Room for craft service and hospitality and an adjacent wardrobe area with washer and dryer.
The Grand Reopening of the Dr. Mary T. Christian Theatre
In the lobby is a new box office window that makes ticketing a more convenient experience. There are monitors in the lobby with optional video feed from the stage so if someone has to leave the theater for any reason, they won’t miss any of the show. In addition, there is a sensory / quiet area, as well as space for catering.
The Dr. Mary T. Christian Theatre is located next to Templin Hall, on our Hampton Campus.
