Description:
The First United Methodist Church of Hampton established this scholarship to honor John R. Lawson. Mr. Lawson served for 15 years on the Hampton City Council and 12 years on the Hampton Redevelopment and Housing Authority Board of Commissioners. He served on numerous other boards and was president of the Hampton Rotary Club. Individuals who have received assistance from the John R. Lawson fund for the past three years are not eligible to apply.
Requirements
- Virginia resident;
- Minimum high school GPA of 2.5 if applicant is a new student to Virginia Peninsula; and
- GPA of 2.5 if currently enrolled at Virginia Peninsula.
