Frequently Asked Questions

When and where are the interviews?
Interviews will take place October 28-29 in the PWDC.

Will the committee ask questions about everything or only the areas
of non-compliance?

The committees may ask about anything related to any SACSCOC standards.

What will the meetings and interviews be like?
Typically, the committee members introduce themselves and ask attendees to do the same. Then, committee members will ask questions on areas such as interviewees roles and responsibilities, policies, and their overall experience at the College. They may have specific questions prepared about one or more of the standards. As noted earlier, these are not interrogations but are instead usually brief and quite cordial.

I read the bios and see I have some things in common with one of the review team members. Should I plan to seek that person out and start a conversation?
No. While we expect you to be a polite host, remember that the committee members are hard at work and on a tight schedule. A brief conversation about a common interest is fine (for example, if a committee member mentions a favorite sports team or music artist). Still, please do not engage members in long discussions unrelated to the visit.

Is there any way to know the questions in advance?
No. The committee developed questions specific to what we wrote in the submitted documents. Members can also add questions based on what they hear during the visit.

How long does it take until we hear results?
During the exit meeting on Thursday morning, the committee will present their findings to Dr. Brannon and other VPCC administrators. The findings will include any recommendations from the committee. After this brief exit meeting, each committee member will begin their travels home. In a few weeks, the College will receive a full, detailed report of the On-Site Committees findings.

Are recommendations a positive thing?
No. A recommendation is a finding about any standard for which the institution has not yet demonstrated compliance.
