Public Safety Telecommunicator / 911 Dispatcher

Public Safety Telecommunicator / 911 Dispatcher

A Public Safety Telecommunicator — often called a 911 Dispatcher, Emergency Communications Specialist, or Emergency Call Taker — is the first point of contact in an emergency. They receive calls for police, fire, or medical assistance, quickly assess the situation, and dispatch the appropriate responders using computer-aided dispatch systems and radio communication.

Our Public Safety Telecommunicator Career Studies Certificate prepares students for employment in the police and emergency services field. After completing the program, students will be confident and competent dispatchers in law enforcement, and/or fire and emergency medical services telecommunications centers.
