Virginia Peninsula Community College’s spring production of “The School for Scandal” has been postponed to a future season.

The play, by Richard Brinsley Sheridan, was scheduled to run April 30 through May 3 in the Dr. Mary T. Christian Theatre on the Hampton Campus. VPCC’s production of Gilbert & Sullivan’s “The Gondoliers,” set for July 23-26, is still scheduled to be held. Auditions will be May 4-5.

On April 18-19, several members of VPCC’s theater club, students and alumni were involved in “What the Constitution Means to Me” at the Williamsburg Regional Library Theater. That production was part of VA250, a statewide celebration to commemorate the nation’s 250th birthday. The Society of the Performing Arts, VPCC’s theater club, is scheduled to be involved in other VA250 events, also.

“It’s been a very exciting kickoff to our new space. Since the grand opening in January, the Dr. Mary T. Christian Theatre has hosted dance recitals, documentary presentations, a new dramatic work, and a host of community events,” said David Garrett, the manager of the theater.
