Virginia Peninsula Community College’s National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) core electrical course is proving popular. Ten of its 12 available spots filled quickly, with many of those showing up early one day last month, standing in line to register. The class is offered through Workforce Development at the College.
“What might appear to be an ordinary registration line was, in fact, the demonstration of determination and commitment,” said Dr. Adrienne E. Cosby, director of business solutions and corporate training and development at the College.
The class began Sept. 8, and upon successful completion, students will be eligible to enroll in the Electrical Level 1 course, which is scheduled to begin Oct. 14.
Cosby noted students were willing to go through the process “because they understood the value of the opportunity before them.”
