Virginia Peninsula Community College’s request to rename parts of Thomas Nelson Drive and Butler Farm Road to College Drive was approved by the Hampton City Council.
The change, which goes into effect Aug. 9, affects only VPCC’s properties in Hampton. The renamed portion starts at 600 Butler Farm Road, the easternmost part of VPCC’s Hampton Campus, and runs west to the intersection of Hastings Drive and Thomas Nelson Drive, the westernmost part of the College’s property. The move comes five years after VPCC changed its name from Thomas Nelson Community College.
“This important transition will continue strengthening the Virginia Peninsula Community College identity,” the College said in a statement. “The street name change represents the final step in aligning our official mailing addresses with the College’s identity and mission.”
The request was approved June 10, 2026, by Hampton City Council through Resolution 26-0200.
The main Hampton Campus address will be 99 College Drive, Hampton, VA 23666. The address for the Hampton III Building will be 525 College Drive, Hampton, VA 23666. The address for the Peninsula Workforce Development Center (PWDC) will be 600 College Drive, Hampton, VA 23666.
