The College’s Educational Foundation is pleased to announce Faculty-Staff Innovator Grant awards. Eight projects were funded totaling nearly $40,000. The Faculty-Staff Innovator Grant Program was launched in 2008, empowering faculty and staff members to develop initiatives that enhance student success through inventive approaches to teaching and learning.
As creativity and passion makes this program thrive, the Educational Foundation thanks all faculty and staff who submitted projects for consideration. Officials are excited to see even more fresh, forward-thinking ideas as the College looks ahead to future Faculty-Staff Innovator Grant opportunities.
The following projects were awarded:
Arts, Business, Humanities & Social Sciences (ABHSS) – Submitted by Nicole Currier, $6,500 to support the purchase of equipment for expanded studio classrooms in Templin Hall.
Enrollment Management & Student Success (EMSS) -Submitted by Amy Anderson, $7,500 to support VPCC hosting, “The Color of Freedom” Military Women’s Memorial Traveling Exhibit and Support Events Series.
Public Safety, Allied Health & Human Services (PSAHHS) – Submitted by Lloyd Carter, $5,040 to acquire two ventilator simulators for use on both the Hampton and Historic Triangle campuses in multiple programs including EMS, Fire Science and Nursing.
PSAHHS – Submitted by LeRon Lewis, $3,649 to acquire a GlideScope Go 2 Portable Video Laryngoscope System – a video laryngoscope system designed for clear airway views and ease of use.
EMSS – Submitted by Doreen Dougherty, $7,500 to help fund the purchase of a six-seater golf cart, to better serve prospective students and their families by improving the ease and time for conducting tours and making tours easily accessible for prospective students and their family members who have a mobility disability.
EMSS – Submitted by Mary Kanani, $3,000 toward a multi-departmental program to identify and assist students who are either eligible for graduation or are close to completion, to ensure they receive the credentials they have earned or are capable of earning soon. Includes a celebratory event to foster a sense of accomplishment and belonging.
EMSS – Submitted by Zachary Johnson, $5,396 to provide translated versions of hard copy admissions materials and related College webpages in identified languages of need in VPCC’s service area as well as software to provide a distribution service to 16 high schools for interested students and parents.
PSAHHS – Submitted by Leo Keneally, $1,400 to fund the participation of six students and one faculty member in the Virginia Government Simulation where students engage in hands-on learning about state government processes, develop leadership skills, and network with peers and professionals.
