Virginia Peninsula Community College’s 2025 Commencement Exercises will take place Thursday, May 15 at 2 p.m. at the Hampton Coliseum.
Former Hampton Mayor Donnie R. Tuck will deliver the keynote address.
A lifelong public servant, Tuck led the City of Hampton for eight years, bringing a legacy of dedication and community engagement to the position.
Tuck, a longtime champion of collaboration, strategic growth and civic engagement, was elected to Hampton City Council in 2010 and served as mayor from 2016 to 2024.
His affiliations include service as chair of the Hampton Roads Transportation Planning Organization and membership on the Hampton Roads Military and Federal Facilities Alliance and the Hampton Roads Transportation Accountability Commission.
The Chapel Hill, N.C. native holds a bachelor’s degree in public policy studies from Duke University and a Master of Public Administration from Old Dominion University. His professional background includes broadcasting, athletic public relations, technical writing, and local government.
Tuck and his wife, Robie (major, USAF retired), are the proud parents of a daughter, Elizabeth.
The May 15 event marks VPCC’s 56th graduation ceremony. College officials invite families, faculty, staff and community members to join graduates in celebrating this milestone.
