MEETING MINUTES
VPCC College Board Members Present: Dr. Keisha Melvin {Committee Chair), Laura Abel,

- Call to Order
Dr. Melvin called the meeting to order at 4:40 PM.
- Review of April 16, 2025, CISS Committee Meeting Minutes
The recommendation was made to review and approve the CISS committee meeting minutes recorded on April 16, 2025. After review, a motion with a second was given and the Virginia Peninsula Community College CISS committee approved the minutes, as presented.
- Information Item: ACEN Accreditation Decision
Jenni Jones, Director of Allied Health & Nursing Education Programs presented details of the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) committee’s May 8, 2025, notification of action describing their decision to grant the Associate Nursing Program a 2-year Continuing Accreditation for Good Cause. The Virginia Peninsula Community College CISS committee acknowledged the ACEN committee notification and accreditation decision,
as presented.
ANNOUNCEMENT(s)
Dr. Ragno discussed the college’s Dental Hygiene Program through ongoing efforts towards hiring a consulting firm whose expertise is to identify and coordinate a sustainable partnership with a dentist or dental practice group who would agree to operate on site and instruct students in the dental hygiene lab at the HT campus.
NEXT MEETING
The next CISS Committee meeting is August 20, 2025, at 4:30 PM and will be held at the Historic Triangle campus of Virginia Peninsula Community College in the Library, Room 101M. A Public Notice announcing the August 20 CISS Committee Meeting will be communicated and published online at www.vpcc.edu.
NOTE: Committees convene prior to the full college board meeting from 4:30 – 5:45 PM which includes a boxed dinner. The college board meeting begins at 6:00 PM.
All college board and committee meeting dates, times, and locations are communicated via public notice.

Dr. Melvin verified no additional action or topics of discussion and called the meeting adjourned at 5:40 PM.
