MEETING MINUTES
VPCC College Board Members Present: Dr. Keisha Melvin {Committee Chair}, Laura Abel,
Stephen Ferguson, Dr. Joyce Jarrett, Danny Lee,
Dr. Jonathan Romero, and Dr. Donna Woods.
VPCC Staff/Faculty Present: Dr. Joseph Fairchild.

- Call to Order & Welcome
Dr. Melvin extended a welcome and called the meeting to order at 4:43 PM. An introduction was given for new college board member, Mr. Danny Lee.
- Review of December 4, 2024, CISS Committee Meeting Minutes
The recommendation was made to review and approve the CISS committee meeting minutes recorded on December 4, 2024. After review, a motion with a second were given and the Virginia Peninsula Community College CISS committee approved the minutes, as presented.
- Curriculum Advisory Membership Approval
Dr. Fairchild presented the 2025-2026 Curriculum Advisory Committee Membership directories represented by each academic division’s programs. Curriculum advisory committees are primarily reviewed by Program Chairs, Division Deans and Directors. These advisory committees require CISS Committee approval followed by confirmation from the full college board. The recommendation was made to approve the 2025-26 curriculum advisory membership updates. The motion to approve was made by Mr. Ferguson
and seconded by Dr. Romero, and the Virginia Peninsula Community CISS committee approved the updated curriculum advisory membership listings, as presented.
ANNOUNCEMENT(s)
Dr. Fairchild announced the 2025 commencement ceremony is May 15, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Hampton Coliseum noting that college board members would receive additional communications related to their participation along with event details and logistics from the Office of the President/Barbara Mason.
NEXT MEETING
The next CISS Committee meeting is May 21, 2025, at 4:30 PM and will convene at the Hampton campus of Virginia Peninsula Community College in the Hampton IV Building, Room 4226.
A Public Notice announcing the May 21 CISS Committee Meeting will be communicated and published online at www.vpcc.edu.
NOTE: Committees convene prior to the full college board meeting from 4:30 – 5:45 PM which includes a boxed dinner. The college board meeting begins at 6:00 PM.
All college board and committee meeting dates, times, and locations are communicated via a public notice.
ADJOURNMENT
Dr. Melvin verified that there were no additional actions or topics of discussion and called the meeting adjourned at 4:47 PM.
