The purposes of the Student Nurses Association (SNA), Historic Triangle Chapter are to:
- Promote participation in college and community activities that promote health and wellness, represent nursing students to the consumer, to institutions, and to other organizations
- Encourage student participation in interdisciplinary activities
- Educate members about the importance of student involvement in legislative matters regarding healthcare, nursing education, and practice
- Promote recruitment efforts; participation in student activities, and educational opportunities regardless of a person’s race, color, creed, sex, age, lifestyle, national origin, or economic status
- Promote and encourage collaborative relationships with the National Student Nurses’ Association and the Virginia Nursing Students’ Association
- Participate in approved fundraising activities in order to raise money for charitable contributions to approved agencies and causes
- Participate in approved fundraising activities in order to raise money for the pinning ceremony that occurs upon successful completion of the nursing program.

The purposes of the Student Virginia Education Association (SVEA), Virginia Peninsula Chapter are to:
- Inform and educate its membership on educational issues of immediate and potential importance in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the nation
- To foster and coordinate the development of chapters affiliated with the SVE: to provide an opportunity for students to explore education as a profession, to evaluate their own aptitudes, capabilities, interests as prospective professional educators, and to encourage the selection of education as a profession
- To strengthen the teaching profession by encouraging pre-professionals to become active members in the United Education Profession
- To establish a closer relationship between chapters of SVEA, National Education Association Student Programs (NEASP), Virginia Education Association (VEA), and the National Education Association (NEA)
- To promote and protect human and civil rights.
