Information Regarding Tuition and Fee Increases

Beginning Fall 2026, several tuition and fee changes will take effect for the 2026–2027 academic year as approved by the Virginia State Board for Community Colleges.

What changed?

  • Tuition increase of $6.70 per credit hour
  • Student Activity fee increase of $0.49 per credit hour
  • Fees range from $25 to $50 per credit hour, with a 50% discount during the 2026–27 academic year.
  • Applies only to designated high-cost courses. Before you register, you will see course fees clearly disclosed in the course schedule, course catalog, and your class notes in SIS student account bill.
  • Important note for Dual Enrollment Program students: CTE course fees do not apply to CTE courses taught at your high school.

Why these changes?

These changes were made carefully and reflect ongoing funding challenges facing Virginia’s community colleges, which receive significantly less state funding per student than Virginia’s public universities. Even with these increases, VPCC and Virginia’s community colleges remain among the most affordable pathways to a degree or career credential.

The new CTE course fees will help cover the rising costs of specialized equipment, clinical supplies, simulation technology, and safety resources used in career and technical programs that prepare students for high-demand careers in Hampton Roads.

Financial Aid Support

Federal and state financial aid, including Pell Grants, G3, and other aid programs, may help eligible students cover these costs. Students are encouraged to contact the Financial Aid Office with questions about affordability or eligibility.

What You Should Do

  • Review course fees in SIS before registering for Fall 2026
  • Contact Financial Aid if you need assistance
  • Speak with your advisor if you have questions about courses in your program
