Virginia Peninsula’s Workforce Development team can help you put the right people in the right positions with employee assessments.

Whether you need employees who meet new competency requirements or you’re aiming to close skill gaps, the Workforce Development team can help with testing services available at the Peninsula Workforce Development Center’s Work Readiness Lab. There are several assessments available.

WorkKeys System

Build a high-performance workforce with WorkKeys. The job skills assessment system measures “real world” skills that help employers with hiring, training and retention decisions.  WorkKeys offers three tools  to help you hire, train and retain a skilled workforce. Job Profiling, Gaps Analysis and the Employee Assessment are valuable tools for any occupation.

The assessment measures skill levels in eight different competencies:

  • Locating Information

  • Reading comprehension
  • Teamwork
  • Writing

Career Readiness Certificate

Prove you have the reading, basic math and research skills that companies need with the Virginia Career Readiness Certificate (CRC). The assessment-based credential gives employers and the workforce a uniformed measure of key workplace skills. More than sixty area employers, including the Newport News Shipyard and Liebherr, value the Virginia CRC.

The CRC, graded at Gold, Silver and Bronze, provides a workplace skills certification that businesses can directly connect to productivity, quality, business processes, and profitability.

The CRC in Virginia is supported by the Virginia Workforce Council, Chamber of Commerce, AFL-CIO and the Virginia Manufacturers Association.
