Steps to Enrolling at Virginia Peninsula

Step 1: Apply to Virginia Peninsula

Applying to the College is free. Before you apply, please review our How to Apply page.

The completed application will indicate your domicile status, Student ID number, and MyVPCC username and temporary password. Make sure to keep this information handy.

College Application

Setup your Accounts

  • Set up your MyVPCC account using your MyVPCC username and temporary password. MyVPCC provides access to important student information and your College email account.
  • You will also have access to our onboarding tool, Navigate, 24 hours after you apply online. Login to Navigate using the credentials generated on the last page of the application. You may download the Navigate app from The Apple Store or the Google Play Store.

Complete the Admissions Process

Admissions will contact you if you have any outstanding items, documents, etc. and will share instructions on the next steps you need to take in order to enroll.

If you need additional help you may contact Admissions at admissions@vpcc.edu, or visit us in Griffin Hall, room 208 on the Hampton campus, or room 117 at the Historic Triangle campus.

At Virginia Peninsula, we use multiple measures and informed self-placement to determine student readiness for college-level English and math courses.

Step 2: Apply for Financial Aid

Applying for state and federal financial aid is free. Simply complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). A student needs to file the FAFSA once each year. Virginia Peninsula Community College's FAFSA school code is 006871. We will only receive your information if we are listed on the FAFSA.  Be sure you select the correct FAFSA for the semester you plan to attend: Fall 2021, Spring 2022, and Summer 2022 = 2021 - 2022 FAFSA or Fall 2022, Spring 2023, and Summer 2023 = 2022 - 2023 FAFSA.

Step 3: Assess Your Academic Advising Needs

Special Note: Depending on the time of year, it may be difficult to make an appointment with your advisor in the next few days. You may register for your classes NOW, using the programs of study in the college catalog and the course schedule. Add classes to your cart and register in Navigate like in this video and then review your schedule with your academic advisor at your appointment. This will hold your place in classes and also ensure you are taking the right classes for your program.

Not all students need to meet with an academic advisor. For more information on your next steps, please determine which description best fits you:

Are you taking classes for personal enrichment or to transfer back to another institution? 

You do not need to see an advisor and may register for classes by accessing Navigate. For assistance on how to register using navigate, click here. If you are unable to self-register, please fill out this enrollment form with your requested classes and send any unofficial transcripts to registration@tncc.edu. If you have not met course prerequisites, you will be unable to enroll in that course. To review course prerequisites, please check the College Catalog.

Here's how to meet with an advisor:

  1. Prior to scheduling your advising appointment, please complete the Virginia Peninsula Placement Survey.
  2. Access Navigate to schedule your academic advising appointment. Once you are logged in to Navigate, select the Appointments tab located on the left side of the page and follow the prompts.

Step 5: Register for New Student Orientation

Welcome to the New Student Orientation program that is accessible anytime from any internet. New Student Orientation is a program for all students with no prior college or university enrollment, including Early College high school students.

Virginia Peninsula bookstores are your one-stop shop for all the materials you need to succeed.

Step 7: Pay Tuition

Pay for all tuition and fees on time to ensure you aren't dropped from classes. Tuition is due on Friday, December 16, 2022 for Spring 2023 semester and April 28, 2023 for summer 2023 semester. Click here for more information on how to pay.
