Athletics director and men’s basketball coach: Moore is a graduate of Warwick High School in Newport News and joined the College in fall 2018 as the men’s basketball coach. He assumed the athletics director role July 18, 2022.
As the athletics director, Moore is overseeing the expansion of the College’s intercollegiate sports teams from three to nine, which will be completed with the addition of two as-yet-unnamed sports for the 2024-25 academic year.
As the men’s basketball coach, he led the Gators to a 16-1 record in the 2021-22 season, which culminated in the program’s first conference title since 2015. Moore was named the 2021-22 New South Athletic Conference Coach of the Year and the Small College Sports Coach of the Year. Moore, who attended VPCC in 2008-10, also attended Virginia Wesleyan College and Chowan University.
Before joining the College as the men’s basketball coach, he was the director of basketball operations at Longwood University (2017-18), and a graduate assistant basketball coach at Mount St. Mary’s University (2016-17), where he was a part of the Northeast Conference regular season and conference tournament champions. Moore also has coached at Massanutten Military Academy, Team Loaded AAU, and multiple high schools throughout the state.
He has trained and coached numerous professional athletes, including Mark Williams (Charlotte Hornets), Cam Thomas (Brooklyn Nets), and Isaiah Todd (Washington Wizards). His father, the late Ben Moore, coached basketball for nearly 30 years in the Peninsula District.
Baseball coach: Harrison was named the head coach April 20, 2023, after serving as the interim coach since the previous fall.
He joined the Gators as an assistant coach for the 2022 season, when they won 20 games for the first time in school history. In addition to coaching the outfielders and hitters, he was responsible for recruiting. After his first year as the head coach at VPCC, 10 of his players went on to play at four-year institutions, including one at an NCAA Division I program.
Harrison was born and raised in Poquoson, graduating from Poquoson High School. He’s the manager of a local glass business and is president/CEO of the Peninsula Co Pilots, an AAU baseball and softball organization for boys and girls ages 9-18.
He played high school and American Legion baseball, and was inspired to be a coach because his father was a coach. His first coaching job came in youth baseball at age 19. He was a middle school football coach for several years before concentrating on baseball.
He and his wife, Shannon, have two daughters (Alexis and Payton) and one son (Blake).
Men’s soccer: Darcy is the program’s first coach, taking the position May 4, 2023, as the Gators added the sport in the fall 2023 season.
Darcy also is the director of coaching on the Peninsula for Virginia Rush Soccer Club, and has worked with Virginia Legacy, Tidewater Sharks and Chesterfield United in technical director positions.
His collegiate coaching experience includes serving as the head coach for the Hampton University women, an assistant for the William & Mary women, and an assistant men’s coach at Salisbury State.
On the high school level, he coached the boys’ soccer team at Hampton Roads Academy in 2021-22, leading the team to 25 wins in two years and being named the TCIS Coach of the Year in 2022. He has been a high school coach of the year eight times in Maryland and Virginia.
Internationally, Darcy has coached with RUSH Select in Germany, PUMA Pro Select in Brazil; in Costa Rica and Czech Republic with Virginia ODP state teams and was selected among six coaches nationally to the USL Pro Experience staff in Cincinnati 2016.
His minor-league professional coaching experience includes leading the Legacy 76 squad to the 2017 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup tournament after winning the Mid-Atlantic Conference championship. His teams also qualified for the regional playoffs in 2016 and 2017 as a member of the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL). In addition, he has served as the head coach and general manager for the USL D3 Pro Leagues Eastern Shore Sharks (Md.), USL’s PDL Virginia Legacy, the PASL Tidewater Sharks men, the WPSL Tidewater Sharks women's team and Virginia FC of the UWS United Women’s Soccer League.
He has an “A” coaching license, and played professionally in the USL, and in college at Salisbury State and Old Dominion University.
Darcy and his wife, Erin, reside in Williamsburg. They have three daughters (Meghan, Allison and Courtney) and four grandchildren.
Cheerleading: Barcus is in her second stint with the cheerleading program at the College. After graduating from VPCC in 2015, she was an assistant cheer coach for five years before taking a break to pursue an undergraduate degree. Following her graduation from Norfolk State University in 2020, she returned to VPCC the following year as the cheerleading coach.
Barcus was born and raised in Chicago, and moved to Virginia her junior year of high school, where she graduated from Woodside High School in Newport News. Growing up she cheered, played basketball, and ran track. She also did semi-pro cheerleading with the Virginia Crusaders from 2014-16, and cheered at VPCC while a student.
She has coached numerous women who have gone on to cheer at universities, for semi-pro teams, and who have become cheer coaches themselves.
Women’s basketball: Parker officially took the reins of the program July 21, 2023. She spent the previous two seasons as the girls' varsity coach at Voyager Academy High School in Durham, N.C. The team was ranked in the top 10 in the state (IA East), and hosted and won a state playoff game for the first time in school history. She had the conference player of the year, and was named the conference’s coach of the year. She started her coaching career as an assistant high school coach in 2019, and also has been an AAU coach.
She has a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from North Carolina State University, and a bachelor's degree in elementary education from UNC Greensboro. Parker’s husband, Dominic, is an assistant men’s basketball coach at Christopher Newport University. They have a son, Nehemiah, whom she adopted when he was 6. He turned 13 on July 13.
Track and Field/Cross country: McIntyre, a graduate of Menchville High School and Virginia State University, was named the first coach of the programs Aug. 7, 2023. The initial cross country season will be fall 2023, followed by indoor track and field in the winter and outdoor track and field in spring 2024.
He had been the girls cross country coach and assistant girls outdoor track and field coach at Menchville High School since 2019. He also is a health and physical education teacher at Menchville.
While at VSU, he was on the cross country and track and field teams all four years. He competed in CIAA conference and NCAA national meets. He posted numerous top-10 individual finishes in the CIAA, and was on two teams that finished runner up in the CIAA Championships.
