Covers procedures, communication and interpersonal relations, observation, charting and reporting, safety and infection control, anatomy and physiology, personal care, nutrition and patient feeding, death and dying. Includes laboratory and clinical practice hours. Upon successful completion of the course and practice exams, you can qualify forVirginias Certified Nursing Assistant Examination(written and manual skills). Training course features a low instructor/student ratio and prepares you to:Work in a long-term care setting as well as in other healthcare settings and with other populationsProvide direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse.Help long-term care residents as well as patients in other healthcare settings meet their physical, social, and psychological needs.The course includes:Required 100-hour in-person lecture and skills labRequired 8-hour Basic Life Saving (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification (as a separate course at no additional charge for those who are not alreadyRed Crossshould beAmerican Heart AssociationBLS Certified);Required 48-hour clinical (6eight-hour days assigned clinical site; During the daytime.Required text and workbook vouchers for written and skills exams (valued at $145), BLS certification class, and much more!; andA mock test provided at Virginia Peninsula Community Colleges Credential nurse aide testing site at the Williamsburg Historic Triangle Campus.Participants must be at least 18 years old and have earned a high school diploma or its equivalent.Must register & complete ONLINE mandatory info session.Must successfully pass theliteracy assessmentadministered at the scheduled mandatory info session. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Student must have a watch with a second hand. Must successfully complete a BLS for Healthcare Providers class before clinical included & provided in NAE course. Expect prior to employment requirements such as background checks, updated immunization & TB test, and or physical exam.Eligible students will be prepared to sit for theNNAAP exam for NCSBN National Council of State Boards of Nursing offered by PearsonVue. The exam consists of two components: a written or oral portion and a skills demonstration portion. Each candidate must successfully complete both components of the exam before a state can add their name to the state nurse aide registry. The state registry is used to assure employers that the potential hire has met the federal and state requirements for employment.
